P2P filesharing software

Friday, September 21st, 2007

“Unlike Limewire, Bittorrent, Napster, and the other leading P2P file sharing applications, Ares was developed as an open-source application, so there are no corporate owners for the RIAA to target, and development of the system has not been halted with legal problems.”

(Quote from website)

First things first; what’s this website about?

In a nutshell, everything Ares!

If you’re clueless as to what this Ares thing is, a detailed explanation is given on the homepage. This is a great reference if you’re looking for information about the  open-source Ares software and the different variants around.

There is also a large collection of downloads as well as a pretty decent bank of reviews too! The 3 main Ares ‘products’ are Ultra, Lite and Vista – all these 3 are reviewed in depth and the bits they liked and disliked about each product are mentioned in separate sections.

Another useful section of the website is the FAQ section which contains a load of useful questions, right from the basics like uninstalling Ares all the way to the trickier bits such as managing advanced settings by making modifications to the registry. There’s screenshots to guide you along the way with the more advanced tasks so, hopefully you’ll be able to do everything just fine! This page also proves to be a great jargon buster for all the  P2P filesharing software  you’ll encounter when using Ares, so it’s worth checking this out, especially if you’re a  new/novice user. The review for ‘Ares Ultra’ can is  very nice too

Finally there is the support forum – you have to register to participate in discussions and get user-to-user help with all your problems, but hopefully with the great FAQ section, you won’t need to refer to the forums much, if at all!

If you’re beginning to think that things were getting a little monotonous, let me present… Ares Tube! So what is this magnificient ‘Ares Tube’ I hear you ask…so, let me answer that for you: Ares Tube lets you download content from the popular website Youtube. So those great videos you thought you’d need an internet connection to access can now be downloaded straight to your computer!

Get it here - ares tube

Dolphins Promotions

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Web design preston is a hard thing to do well. The internet has reached a point where there are endless numbers of people offering services, and without a doubt the most popular service to offer is web design. Web Design is one of the most competitive markets on the internet. A simple search on Google for “Web Design” shows 1.25 billion results, while pay-per-click advertisers of web design usually pay extremely high amounts per click. Since so many of these are professional companies it has become hard for a freelance web designer to find business. It is a well known fact that professional companies are able to charge more, purely for the fact that they are a “real business” while freelancers are frequently forced to try and undercut these corporate giants.

Dolphin Promotions lies within the professional category, a tough and ruthless area of business. It is very hard for a new business to enter the market purely because the level and amount of competition is so high. This causes a number of start-up businesses to fail and as a result many fear to enter the market. One of the ways for a new company to enter the market successfully is to offer a Unique Selling Point (USP). If the company has something unique to offer in regards to web design, then it will naturally attract business. If the company has something extra to offer to their clients, their business will increase dramatically. As you may be able to guess from the title, Dolphin Promotions is not only a web design, it is also a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) company. This means that not only will they design your website, they will also promote it and try and get it to the top of google for your keyword. Of course this extra promotion comes with an extra cost, but the important thing to remember is that by keeping all your business with one, trusted company you are able to ensure you’re investments are almost completely risk free.

One of the most notable things about Dolphin Promotions’ website is it’s simple and yet classy design which instantly creates a sense that we are dealing with a real business who can be trusted with our money. If this is the level of care they take with their customer’s websites then this company must have an extremely good portfolio for us to view. This portfolio ranges from e-commerce sites to online brochures, while their SEO portfolio is in a similar vein. Their designs are all simple and yet maintain an edge of contemporary minimalism. Too many web designers in these modern times aim to wow their customers with complex flash websites (which rank poorly in Google by the way), Dolphin do not do this and although we might not get the “wow” factor we do get a sense that the company makes extremely professional websites.

Dolphin Promotions have made a good foray into the web design company market and will surely build as a business.

DomDat

“Expired domains receive millions of hits per day!

DomDat.com can help you find these quality expiring domains

I recently purchased an ebook telling me how easy it was to make money using expired domains. I was immediately hooked and decided I wanted a piece of this market. So I packed my credit card and furiously began searching on the sites that had been provided in the ebook.

I experienced a number of hurdles:

  1. Lack of information. Every time I found a domain that I wanted, the website barely gave me any information about it. This was extremely annoying because I then had to my own research to decide whether the domain was actually worth buying.
  2. None of the domains were actually worth buying. The traffic was at a very low level, the domains had little or no backlinks, and the domains themselves weren’t even that brilliant.

Feeling thoroughly frustrated and wondering whether my hard earned cash buying the ebook was actually worth it (we all feel that way anyway don’t we?) I decided to have a look at any other sites I could find that would give me a nice list of expired domains. Since my experience was lacking and I had only seen a couple of different sites, I was not expecting much given the standard of those sites. Fortunately, I stumbled upon (pun intended) Dom Dat which is probably the best expired domains site out there right now.

I realized before taking a serious look through the site that I would need to register before I could even see the list so I spent a couple of minutes filling in my details and then clicked on what soon became my favorite link of all time. The “expired domains” link at the top of the page led me into a whole new world of internet marketing, no joke. I was greeted by a huge (and I mean huge) table with loads of different information on each domain available. My first impressions were good, but they were nothing like the happiness I got from being able to see so many different expired domains. I hadn’t seen a list this big before, so I happily began searching and found exactly what I was looking for. Of course there were a few domains that I felt (given the information) that probably weren’t a sound investment, but I soon got the hang of it and I was buying domains as if they were going to run out!

I am happy to say that I take a look around Dom Dat almost daily now, it’s a brilliant site and coupled with my, now extremely useful, ebook about expired domains, I was armed and ready to hit the ground running.I’ve personally found a lot of expired domains. That’s what I’ve done, and I’m loving the earnings so far!

Thoughts

Monday, September 17th, 2007
“Blogging is the new form of self expression for the 21st century. At Thoughts, you are able to create a completely free blog where you can share your thoughts with family, friends and our members.Thoughts is a community where real discussions take place and honest opinions are expressed.”

This is actually an excellent description of what a blog should be, too often in these days of internet marketing and Google Adsense blogs are created and filled with useless content for the purposes of making a few quick bucks. Fortunately, Thoughts promotes the use of a blog as a personal journal that can be read by family, friends and anyone else in the network of the site.

Setting up a free blog is extremely easy, and takes very little time, effort, or technical knowledge. There are other features that come with signing up, not only do you get a free slice of blogging action, you also get the ability to upload photos and videos, join the members forum, and rate other blogs.

There are numerous free blogging networks out there, but few have the sense of community that thoughts brings to the table. When you sign up, you instantly feel like part of a network of friends and accessible people. On the other hand, when you sign up for a free wordpress blog, you feel like you have just become part of the new marketing revolution. They also have forums where you can disscuss about several things!

The ability to read the most popular blogs and posts is paramount in this sense of community. We are compelled to read other peoples personal thoughts and this allows us to both comment on their blogs and also improve the writing in our blogs. Everyone would love to create a personal blog that actually attracted genuine readership; a blog that is read by people other than your close friends is part of the blogging dream these days. With other blogging networks, this is very hard/impossible to achieve. To gain any public interest you have to start publicizing your blog and writing sensationalist articles. Thoughts takes away this need, and gives you an instant way of getting interested readers to view your blog. You can also search through the blogs on the network if you want to see if anyone is writing about similar topics to you.

Web 2.0 has become an almost cliché word, and while many strive to achieve “web 2.0 status”, most fall a few steps short. Web 2.0 is all about social networking sites and the ability to create content and decide what is worth reading on the internet. I believe thoughts satisfies all of the attributes to class it as Web 2.0 and as the community continues to grow this website should become a staple of the blogosphere. So you should  Join Thoughts.com

Dan’s Peep At Life

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

My Peep At Life is Dan Harrison’s little soapbox for opinions and thoughts on a range of things going on in this slightly twisted world. Be it environmental issues, cool new technology, webmaster issues, political nightmares, new movies on the silver screen, new TV programmes, finance madness, or anything else for that matter!

Is the government about to do something right for a change? Has a new gadget come out that you simply just have to get? Has a new film come out that’s worth watching? Is everyone making the effort to recycle for a change? Probably not yet, but I imagine Dan will have something to say about it when it does finally happen.

Dan wants to provoke discussion, or at times, start an argument! If you have an opinion on something, please join him in putting the world to rights!

Alive Directory – Blog

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007
Blogs are all the rage these days. They are written around every topic, imaginable. Subscribing to blog feeds and keeping abreast of the content provided is an excellent way to gain knowledge, in any given field.

The Alive Directory provides a webmaster blog, for their site visitors. It’s filled with tips and tricks for directory owners and those who are interested in utilizing directories, as a means of website promotion.

In a recent post entitled ‘Mistakes Directory Owners Should Avoid’ readers are presented with a list of ten things to avoid doing, when setting up and promoting a directory. The article is filled with commonsense information that is very easy to act upon.

Not only are the blog posts, themselves, informative, the reader comments are full of interesting tips, as well. Taking the time to read through them is highly recommended. You might be surprised at what you will learn!

There is information in regard to the type of submission titles that are the most acceptable. Suggestions such as don’t accept a title that is too long or too short. Titles that are submitted that contain all capital letters and one word titles are frowned upon, as well.

There is a recent post and discussion concerning the reasons not to utilize automated directory submission software, which can easily be located on the Internet. Two of the biggest reasons not to use this software are that it increases the problem of ‘spam’ and it can result in a much larger percentage of rejected submissions.

Looking for information about directories, which offer reciprocal listings? The Alive Directory blog can help. Read about why this might not be the best option for the webmaster who is just leaning the ins and outs, of creating and maintaining a successful directory.

There is a wealth of additional information to be found on the Alive Directory blog. Consider subscribing to the feed, which will ensure that you are made aware of each new post, in a timely manner.

Whether you are creating a directory or using directories to promote a website or blog, the Alive Directory blog contains useful information, you can’t live without!
